Bread Pan

1) The first reason is because successful bread baking depends on some pretty tricky chemical reactions.

2) The second reason is because breadmakers have so many steps that they must perform correctly in order for the bread to bake properly.

This combination of circumstances can make it difficult to figure out what may be causing the problem.

Here are some suggestions for troubleshooting common problems you may be having with your bread machine baking.

PROBLEM - Baking ingredients have spilled out of the bread pan and into the machine itself.

Allow it to cool completely.

The idea here is to keep the spilled ingredients from baking onto the heating element and the bottom of the machine.

Once the machine has cooled, carefully clean the ingredients out of the bottom of the machine and off of the heating element before using the breadmaker again.

PROBLEM - The dough isn't mixing

SOLUTION - Check to be sure that both the stirring paddle and the baking pan itself are properly seated in the machine.

It is likely that the ingredients will be badly disturbed while these adjustments are being made. It is also likely that ingredients will be spilled into the machine and onto the heating element.

To minimize either problem, empty the baking pan and carefully clean the bottom of the machine and the heating element.

Start over again, after double checking that the stirring blade and baking pan are properly seated.;-)

PROBLEM - The sides of the baked bread collapse and the bottom of the baked bread is damp.

SOLUTION 1 - The bread may have been left in the bread pan too long after baking.
Remove the bread sooner after baking has ended. Allow it to cool outside of the breadmaker.

SOLUTION 2
Try using more flour - increase the flour a measuring teaspoon at a time Try using less yeast - reduce the yeast by a 1/4 measuring teaspoon at a time Try using less water or liquid - reduce by a measuring teaspoon at a time It can also be the result of forgetting to add salt to the recipe

PROBLEM - The baked bread has a heavy, thick texture.

SOLUTION -
Try using less flour - reduce the flour a measuring teaspoon at a time Try using more yeast - increase the yeast by a 1/4 measuring teaspoon at a time This could also be the result of using old, stale flour or the wrong type of flour for the recipe.
